Contractual Information 2016-2017

The information on this page is for students who have joined us for the 2016-2017 year. This information can also be used as a guide for prospective students however please note this information may change in Spring 2017.

Please ensure you read the documents and information on this page before you accept your accommodation agreement.  They contain important information including the terms and conditions that apply to your stay in our halls, as well as the regulations for both the accommodation and the Universities. 

We have signed the Universities UK Code of Practice and have achieved compliance with this code which promotes best practice over a range of management activities in student halls.

Please note; if you decide to leave the accommodation for teaching practice, placement, fieldwork or any other reason during the tenancy period shown on your agreement, you will be liable to pay the residence charges during your absence, unless you have made prior arrangements with the Accommodation Team and we have given you written confirmation of any remission of fees.

Contracts, Rules and Regulations and Halls Handbooks for The Sidings and Maritime Studios are issued directly by CRM Students who are responsible for the day to day management of the site, contracts and payments.

Institutional Regulations

As a student at either the University of Exeter of Falmouth University you will, of course, also be bound by the University's Regulations which can be found below; 


The University has arranged contents insurance for you with Endsleigh, the No.1 student insurance provider. This cover does not protect laptops and phones or other items when you are outside of your room, and does not provide cover against risks inside your room (i.e accidental damage). It is important for you to check this cover, so please check the certificate below to ensure you fully understand the protection provided. If the cover is not sufficient for your needs you can extend and personalise your cover should you wish.  You can find contact details for Endsleigh on the certificate below.

Endsleigh Certificate of Insurance 2016-2017

TV License

The TV license for communal areas is a covered by the University however students are responsible for purchasing a TV license for their bedroom.

You need to be covered by a TV Licence to watch or record live TV programmes on any channel, or download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer. This could be on any device, including a TV, desktop computer, laptop, mobile phone, tablet, games console, digital box or DVD/VHS recorder. If you do any of the above without a valid licence, you risk prosecution and a maximum penalty of up to £1,000, plus any legal costs and/or compensation you may be ordered to pay. How to Pay for Your Accommodation 

On receiving an offer of accommodation and as part of accepting the contract, all students are required to pay a £300 deposit.  This deposit is to be paid via Room Service at the time of accepting an offer.  We will also require the details of two guarantors who agree to meet any outstanding costs from the students account. Please note; students allocated to The Sidings or Maritime Studios will be required to pay a £400  deposit (The Sidings) or £250 deposit (Maritime Studios) directly to CRM Students. Further details on how to do this will be in the offer e-mail.

Rent fees can be paid to the Finance Office during the year in the following ways;

  •  Online at paymentportal.falmouth.ac.uk (you can find details of your termly amounts due and make your payments here)
  •  By phone on 01326 253607
  •  In person at the Finance Office, room MG27, Ground Floor, Old Tremough House, Penryn Campus or Rosehill Building, Falmouth Campus
