A greener campus

We follow and promote the principles of one planet living;
  • minimising our use of non-renewable and scarce natural resources,

Moving In

Moving In...

Once you have accepted your accommodation offer you'll be thinking about moving in and will have lots of questions about this. On this page we hope you will find all the information you need about the arrivals process.

Accommodation Induction

If you have accepted an offer of accommodation you should now have received an email with details of our online induction which you will need to complete. All students must complete the online induction before arrival as it includes important information about your residence, the support services available to you and information regarding health and safety during your stay with us.  Once you have completed the induction you will be asked to check in online where you can book an arrival date and time slot. You can access the online induction and arrivals booking system here.

Arrivals weekend

You must book a date and time to arrive at your residence in advance; numbers are limited per time slot so please ensure you complete your induction and book your arrival as soon as you receive the e-mail.  You could face a long wait if you turn up at your residence without booking your arrival slot. Each of our residences has different arrival days and times available. For our larger residences we are offering an extended move in to include Thursday 8th and Friday 9th September at no extra charge.

Please keep checking this page for specific information such as direction maps and instructions but for now please see details of the arrival days and times for each residence as a guide. International Students should refer to the information in the 'International Students' section further down the page.

Please note that Glasney Student Village is now fully booked for arrivals on Saturday 10th September. The only available slots for Sunday 11th September are 10am and 11am.  We would encourage students to arrive on either Thursday 8th or Friday 9th September where there is a wider choice of availability and waiting times will be greatly reduced.

Unfortunately we are unable to facilitate any arrivals earlier than the dates offered.  Students are able to arrive later than the organised move-in dates however the contract start date will still apply and students will be charged from the date stated on their formal contract.

International Students

International arrivals – Meet and Greet Service

  • Thursday 8th September : 5pm – 8pm

The University will be hosting a meet and greet service for new international students.  You can find out more about this and book a place here.

The move-in date for students using the meet and greet service will be Thursday 8th September 2016.  Whether you are living in accommodation on Penryn Campus, or living elsewhere in the towns of Penryn or Falmouth, this service will bring you to the campus and will arrange onward travel to your accommodation.

Free parking will be available at Glasney Student Village between 8th – 11th September. Normal parking charges will apply outside of these dates in line with our Pay As You Leave system. You can find out more about how this works, including hourly charges, on our parking page. Once you have checked in and collected your keys you will be able to park on the road outside your residence block to unload. As there is no specific parking in these areas you will have a maximum of 20 minutes to unload the car, after which we request that it is moved back to the main car park as soon as possible. If you have two cars with you to unload you will only be permitted to take one car down at a time. If you visit the shops to get groceries you will not be able to drive back down to your flat to unload but will need to carry them from the main car park. Allowances are made for students with accessibility requirements.

Excluding Maritime Studios there is no parking available at our other residences.  You will be able to park close to the residence to unload however your car will have to be moved to the nearest Pay and Display car park once you have finished. Information, including a map and directions will be sent out week beginning 5 September.

We are unable to allow any guests in residences for the first two weeks.  Therefore we would advise that if parents, relatives or friends are accompanying you they will need to book their accommodation elsewhere and well in advance. Falmouth and Penryn has an abundance of hotels, guest houses, B&Bs and hostels and many advertise via VisitFalmouth.com.

What to Bring

When packing for your move-in we would advise to travel light, especially if you are sharing a room! Items vary in each residence, the information sheet on each residence page has details of what is provided and what you need to bring with you. We would suggest that you wait until you arrive to buy general cleaning equipment or shared kitchen items; you can then share the cost with your fellow residents and you won't end up with 7 sets of saucepans!

Please click the residence page that applies to you on the menu to the left to view the information sheet.

You can order starter packs such as bedding and kitchen equipment from us directly, reducing the amount you need to bring with you. The items will be sent to your residence in time for the arrival day. Please note the deadline for orders is 5th August 2016.  For more information and to place your order please click here.

What Not To bring

Please read your contract and residence handbook for rules and regulations on prohibited items.
