Charity Book Swap success at AMATA

6 November 2017

The FX Plus AMATA Café team has been raising money for a Cornwall-based arts charity via a second hand book swap.

The first count since the beginning of term (September) revealed the team had already raised just over £54. This has been donated to Shallal - http://www.shallal.org.uk/ - an inclusive arts charity which aims to make the arts more accessible to the community.

Joe Cruxon, FX Plus Catering Supervisor at AMATA, said: “We are all proud of doing this and would love help in spreading the word to raise more money.

“The books have been bought at local charity shops in Penryn and Falmouth and are then displayed in the AMATA Café. For a small donation, students, staff and visitors have been able to go home with a book, many of which are performance-related and useful for courses.

“Shallal members have been regular users of the building and are great people to get involved with.”

The AMATA Cafe offers a selection of hot food including daily specials, fresh soup, salad boxes, paninis, snacks and Peros coffee. The team also supports performances with an occasional weekend and evening bar service.

Its usual opening times are: 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am - 11.30am, Saturdays.
