The Grounds Team for Falmouth and Penryn Campuses are celebrating winning several firsts and commendations at this year’s Falmouth Spring Flower Show.
The team were delighted with the achievement because this winter’s heavy snow and icy conditions had killed many of the beautiful plants within our grounds.
Entries to the event, which was founded in 1910 and showcases the best exotic and rare plants in the area, are evaluated by Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) judges.
Toby Nenning, FX Plus Head Gardener, said: “We have the Falmouth Spring Flower Show in mind all year and try to plan how our plants will present at show time. Unfortunately this year the cold weather put paid to those plans but we were still able to enter plants in several categories.
“We were up against a lot of larger organisations this year so I am very proud of the team for these wins.”
Tony Sanders, FX Plus Managing Director, added: “This annual show is always a great opportunity to showcase some of the top class work our Grounds Team carry out. This year’s achievement is particularly good because of the time they also had to devote to keeping our campuses clear of snow and safe to travel around, rather than tending the grounds. Congratulations all.”
The FX Plus Grounds Team manage the campus grounds, planting and landscaping at both Penryn and Falmouth Campuses. They blend historic sub-tropical grounds with newly created landscapes to create visually stunning gardens that are a haven for a diverse range of plant and animal species.
