Once you have accepted your accommodation offer you'll be thinking about moving in and on this page you'll find all the information you need about the arrivals process.
We’ve extended the arrivals period this year, so we can make sure that it’s socially distanced. If you're moving in to Glasney Student Village, Packsaddle Hill or Tuke House, you’ll be able to move in between 7th and 13th September. Arrivals prior to the contract start date of September 12th will be at no extra charge. We’ll be operating a booking system via Room Service, which will go live in late August for you to book your arrival slot. We'll send more information about that soon.
If you are coming from a country that is not part of the FCO travel corridor exemption and must comply with a 14 day quarantine upon arrival in the UK, you will be able to arrive on campus from 27th August in order to complete quarantine before Freshers’ Week. This will be free of charge. You will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org if you will be arriving on this date.
Students living at The Sidings, The Quarry, Ocean View and Maritime Studios will be contacted directly by CRM Students/Hello Student with further information on their arrivals process and how to book.
Before you move into your accommodation you will need to complete the online induction. The induction includes important information about your residence, health and safety during your stay and the support services available to you. It is compulsory and must be completed before you can pick up your keys. A link to the induction will be sent out at the end of August to students who have accepted their offer of accommodation.
Once you have completed the induction you will be asked to book an arrival date and time slot. You must book a date and time to arrive at your residence in advance; numbers are limited per time slot so please ensure you complete your induction and book your arrival as soon as you receive the email. If you find the time slot you wish to book is full, please choose the next available option. Due to social distancing requirements this year you must stick to the date and time you have booked.
Each of our residences will have different arrival days and times available. We will be posting more detailed information, including guidance on social distancing, on this page soon.
Arriving Early or Late
Unfortunately we are unable to facilitate any arrivals earlier than the dates offered above unless by prior arrangement, as mentioned above, for those needing to self-isolate. Students are able to arrive later than the scheduled dates however the contract start date will still apply and students will be charged from the date stated on their formal contract (with the exception of University of Exeter Postgraduates whose academic year starts in October). Please refer to the instructions on the induction e-mail for how to let the Accommodation Office know if you are expecting to arrive outside of the arrival weekend. We can then ensure your keys are available for you to collect from Glasney Lodge
Glasney Student Village
Free parking will be available during the arrival dates and times. Normal parking charges will apply outside of these dates in line with our pay as you leave system. You can find out more about how this works, including hourly charges, on our parking page.
Once you have checked in and collected your keys you will be given an unload permit which will allow you to park your car at a designated area within the Glasney Student Village. You will have a maximum of 2 hours to unload the car, after which it will need to be moved back to the main car park. If you have two cars with you to unload you will only be permitted to take one car down at a time.
You will only be able to take your car into Glasney Student Village once for unloading. If you need to visit the shops to get groceries we advise that you do this before arrival or park at the main car park and walk your shopping down.
Allowances are made for Blue Badge holders.
Off-Site Halls of Residence
For our other residences information, including a map and directions will be emailed prior to arrivals.
Parking at the majority of the offsite halls will be in pay and display car parks.
At Packsaddle Hill there is no parking so after belongings have been dropped off cars will need to be parked on campus.
We advise booking supermarket deliveries outside of the arrival times. During the arrivals weekend delivery vans will not be permitted entry to the residences.
Due to social distancing restrictions students will be limited to two members of their household assisting them moving in. Visitors will be expected to follow current government guidance with regards to safety precautions (e.g. facemasks and hand sanitiser).
We are unable to allow any guests in residences for the first two weeks. If parents, relatives or friends are accompanying you they will need to book accommodation elsewhere. Falmouth and Penryn has lots of hotels, guest houses, B&Bs and hostels and many advertise via VisitFalmouth.com.
What to bring
When packing for your move in we would advise to travel light, especially if you are sharing a room!
Items vary in each residence. The information on each residence page has details of what is provided and what you need to bring with you. We would suggest that you wait until you arrive to buy general cleaning equipment or shared kitchen items; you can then share the cost with your fellow residents and you won't end up with several sets of saucepans!
Some residences also have different bed sizes. Check the Halls of Residence page for information on the bed type in your halls.
Food and Bedding Packs
You can order starter packs such as bedding and kitchen equipment from UniKitOut, reducing the amount of items you need to bring with you. The items will be sent to your residence in time for your arrival. Please see below instructions and click here (link is external) to place your order.
Step 1: Choose your kit
Step 2: Fill in your details, including name and student ID
Step 3: Add your delivery address. You will need to select ‘Falmouth-Exeter Student’. ‘Glasney Lodge’ is the default delivery address, but you can type in a different address if you live off campus.
Step 4: Choose a delivery date
Step 5: Use discount code FX10 which gives Falmouth and Exeter students 10% off all orders on UniKitOut
You can also order food and toiletry packs from the Penryn Campus shop here.
What not to bring
