We are delighted to announce the appointment of Anita Thomas to a new post of Head of Accessibility & Inclusive Learning in the Student Services Department.
This important new role will be responsible for services provided by the previously separate Accessibility and Dyslexia Skills teams and will play a leading role in developing the inclusivity of learning and support across the partnership.
Anita brings considerable expertise at a senior level from her previous roles in the NHS, higher education, and commercial sectors. She has held posts in teaching, learning and development, equality and diversity, and disability specialisms. Anita holds a BA Honours degree in English and post graduate qualifications in education/disability and human resource management. She has extensive experience of supporting disabled learners and working with a wide range of organisational functions and academic teams to embed inclusive practices.
Anita joins us at an important point in the development of our support for disabled students. Next academic year will see further reductions nationally in enhanced funding for students with disabilities, and planning is under way to ensure we prepare well for these changes. As Head of Accessibility & Inclusive Learning, Anita will play a leading role in developing and delivering these plans. We hope you will welcome her when she starts in late November this year.
