In addition to picking up three awards at the recent Falmouth University Staff Excellence Awards, FX Plus staff also won two awards at the University of Exeter Professional Services Recognition Awards.
The glittering awards ceremony was held in The Great Hall at the University of Exeter's Streatham Campus and was attended by Sally Gunnell OBE who is currently working with the University of Exeter to promote their Wellbeing programme.
Jasmine Sharma, who manages The Compass, was awarded the 'David Allen Heroine of the Year' thanks to her 'deep passion for supporting all students achieve their best at university'.
Jasmine was nominated for this award as she has frequently stepped in at late notice, for example in coordinating the Cornwall Campuses Meet and Greet service, personally dealing with often difficult individual student cases. She has also been a critical source of support for students throughout the academic year.
The FX Plus Timetabling team (Rachel Bray, Lisa Butler, Rosie Lea, and Vanessa Templeton) won the 'Excellent Service Award - best support for students' as they have 'provided outstanding service in the face of extraordinary demands and have dealt with enquiries with grace, good humour and efficiency'.
The timetabling team were nominated as they respond to lots of requests and conflicting demands for two universities with very different priorities and cultures. Academic and Professional Services colleagues commended their professional, friendly approach, and creative solutions which directly benefit students at both universities. The team go above and beyond to ensure a shared and growing campus continues to be used efficiently by staff and students, often working with people to understand their needs.
Head of Retail, Entertainment and Bar Services, Nigel McAlwane, narrowly missed out on the 'Learning from Experience Award'. Nigel was nominated for developing 'Stannary Academy', an initiative which gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience in bar skills, cellar training and licensing law.
