Improvements to the Penryn Campus Library and Study Space provision

23 October 2017

Level 2, Penryn Campus Library, individual, quiet study zone

As a result of student feedback, we have been reviewing study space provision on campus. At peak periods of teaching and course hand-in times, Penryn Campus Library can become busier than usual, with study space, especially group study space, in great demand. The Library is open 24/7 and is exceptionally busy between 11am and 5pm.

During the summer, Level 2 of the Penryn Campus Library was refurbished with new lighting, carpets and power points. A number of new individual study spaces have been created with vision panel dividers for focused solo study, along with three extra bookable group study places on Level 1.

New interactive Library floor plans highlighting study space zones are now available and you can also view the latest study space availability for the Falmouth and Penryn Campus Libraries on the Library website.

In addition to the Library study spaces and 24/7 access, group study can be undertaken in a variety of places on campus such as seminar rooms, lecture theatres (when not in use for teaching) and food and drink outlets. There are normally free spaces for groups to collaborate in the Lower Stannary from 2pm. With the new Stannary Deli open until 4.30pm, this is a convenient, central meeting place. Students can check seminar room and lecture room availability on their university app and on the FXU website.

Outside the Exchange building, the former post-room in Du Maurier (by the cash point) has been regenerated to form a new collaborative, informal group study room with seating for 15 – 20 students.
