Welcome Week Stannary Bar music events - Update

11/9/2020 Update regarding Welcome Live Music gigs for new students

As you may be aware, a new government law regarding social gatherings of more than six people comes into effect on Monday 14 September. To protect our students and staff and in line with the law, we are sorry to announce that we are cancelling our live music gigs in the Stannary from Monday onwards.

If you have a ticket for an event from Monday onwards we will refund you.

How to get a refund – We will automatically refund all ticket holders through Eventbrite over the next few days and this can take up to 7 working days to appear in your bank account. If any questions, please contact

The Stannary Bar will continue to open in the evenings, accommodating group sizes of no more than four people. There will be limited capacity due to social distancing, and we are using a track and trace function to help you stay safe and reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Evening music events on Friday 11 September, Saturday 12 September and Sunday 13 September

The music events will go ahead as planned this weekend. However, we would like to reassure ticket holders that we have strict measures in place to ensure the health and safety of all attendees. This includes 2m social distancing enforced with clear signage and security marshalling, seating arrangements of groups of four only, wearing of face-coverings if standing, a table only waiting service, hand sanitiser points, increased frequency of cleaning and sanitising of all surfaces, PPE for staff, contactless payment only and the bands will be positioned 3 metres+ from the audience.

The events will be live streamed via our Food and Drink YouTube channel and student-led Surf Radio to allow everyone to enjoy the events in a socially distanced and safe way.
